Boomerang red opal

This is a hand carved Australian Opal from Lightning Ridge NSW. It is predominately red with mixes of greens, yellows and some blue. 

The colour bar sits on top of a mid grey opal potch with a couple of smaller lighter grey potch patches as seen in the photographs. Good colour from all directions.

Rather than cut two smaller stones from this opal rough I decided to cut the colour in one piece and shape it into a freeform opal Boomerang. It can also be interpreted as a large red multi coloured tick.

This unique opal boomerang carving can be left as a specimen or set into a striking ring or pendant. Consider setting a contrasting oval opal in the inside space of the L.
