This is one of those amazing rainbow colored Australian dark opal pieces from Lightning Ridge Australia, the home of the famous black opal. Indeed as seen in the photos there is a band of black opal in the middle of this gemstone which helps reflecting the rich colors outward.

Genuine in all respects, not enhanced or treated to bring out the color. Great rich color from all directions.

I have cut this opal into this free form shape to maximize the size of the stone. There is a slight undulation on one edge as seen in the photos. The photos are not enhanced for color, and if anything the opal looks a little darker than it is although color may vary slightly between different computer devices. The opal has been photographed under halogen lightning to replicate sunlight.
