Pearl and Shell Pendant with Sterling Silver attachments and Santoprene Cord. A touch of the sensual sea
Pearl and shell pendant necklace
This is the first in my Pearl and Shell collection. When walking the coastal beaches of the east coast of Australia my attention in invariably drawn not to perfectly formed shells but rather, fragments of shells.
This shell fragment is exactly as it was formed and smoothed by the Pacific Ocean. I have added freshwater pearls to the inside curve of the shell using sterling silver wire beads and caps. A Santoprene cord (PVC) is fixed to the bail loop as it is less abrasive than a metal chain.
I only pick up shells when the inspiration strikes at that instant and I know what I am going to do with the shell visualizing how it will look. Approximate overall maximum dimensions are: shell 45mm top of bail to bottom of shell; 15mm wide; 11mm deep; pearls 3-4mm, 4-5mm & 6-7mm round. Cord length 45cm with sterling silver findings.
This is a one of a kind pearl and shell pendant with a sensual touch of the sea. A statement for any occasion.
