Beach stone pearl stack pendant necklace

Creative process

My take on the traditional stone cairn with a combination of natural stone and freshwater pearls. Collected from the beaches of the east coast of Australia these naturally washed and tumbled beach stones from the Pacific Ocean have been crafted with sterling silver wire and white and chocolate freshwater pearls to create what I consider to be a unique and beautiful pendant.

From May to November humpback whales frolic off the beaches and headlands along the coast and I hand select each stone between glances seawards. This is my studio were I design my jewellery as I walk and contemplate everything and nothing at the same time.

I have drilled holes in each stone threading sterling silver wire and freshwater pearls to create a free moving pendant. You can turn one or more stones around to create a visually different pendant.

Specifications

Overall approximate measurements are:

  • *pendant weight 14.65 gms,
  • 70mm long (from top of bail down),
  • 34mm wide and 18mm deep.
  • Pearls are 8-8.5mm, 7-7.5mm and 6.0-6.5mm in diameter.

This pendant comes with a Santoprene 18" or 46cm x 2mm cord with sterling catch and ends. Santoprene is often confused with PVC but is actually a thermoplastic elastomer having the same levels of flexibility and durability as found in natural rubber compounds but exhibits a longer life.

This pendant can be dressed up by adding your favourite sterling silver chain. My style is a take on the traditional stone cairn or stack of stones with a twist of pearls to dress them up making them suitable for many an occasion. Perhaps a touch of Zen.

This is the actual pendant you will receive. Thanks for taking the time to look and if you have time take a moment to view some more of my other interesting designs.
