Cathedral Rocks 2

This A4 unframed decor print captures the majesty and play of colours often found in the Australian landscape. This painting of Cathedral Rocks in the New England tablelands of NSW is artist Sima Kokaev's interpretation of this landscape as the colour changes during the day and through the seasons.

Did you know that the Cathedral Rocks National Park was significantly burnt during the 2019-20 bushfires but is now growing back.

Sima has painted this painting on a large sheet of zinc-alum metal with oils building up the colour layers. After the oil paint has dried, Sima has drawn with a sharp tool lines or etches into the painting to reveal the metal surface underneath.

The result is that where ever the original painting is hung it also captures the light in the room in the etch lines creating it's own light within the painting. A truly amazing technique from this talented Australian artist.
